Vantage AMR Is A Purist's Dream
With the Vantage AMR, Aston Martin is aiming at the purists. Offering something that you don't see very often anymore in this segment. A manual transmission.
The Aston Martin Vantage AMR is the next one in the performance lineup from the Gaydon manufacturer. But the approach on this one is a little different. The car isn't necessarily aimed at setting the best lap times. It's aimed at putting a smile on your face.
The recipe? A 510 hp twin-turbo V8 hooked up to a seven-speed manual transmission sending the power through a limited-slip rear differential. Yes, this really is a driver's car.
Furthermore, the car has lost quite some weight. First of all thanks to the removal of the automatic transmission. But secondly thanks to the standard carbon ceramic brakes.
Another thing incorporated into the manual transmission is called AMSHIFT. It's a system that mimics heel-and-toe downshifts under braking and also allows for full throttle upshifts with maximum smoothness and minimal loss of time.
The Vantage AMR is limited to just 200 units of which 59 units will be finished in a 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans celebration ‘Vantage 59’ livery. Which means it'll be an ultra-rare piece of kit. However, if you can't get your hands on one of the AMR cars. The manual transmission will be an option as of Q1 2020. Phew.
