Trevor DTRe Stella | Electrified Urban Ride

The electric revolution has almost taken over the automotive world, primarily dominated by cars. But as the dust settles in the EV car market, Electric Motorcycles are another segment vying for attention and revving up for their spotlight moment. Let’s explore the world of two-wheeled electrification and see what the Trevor DTRe Stella has in store for us!

Belgian Urban Commuter

So, what's the story behind Trevor? TREVOR Motorcycles, founded by Philippe Stella and Jeroen-Vincent Nagels, is an electric motorcycle company with a mission loud and clear. Engineer an electric motorcycle that's at home in the urban sprawl, along the city docks, or winding through rural landscapes. With the Trevor DTRe Stella, it's evident they've achieved just that. While the design of the Stella originates in sunny California, each bike is handcrafted in Belgium.

Design & Build

At first glance, the Trevor DTRe Stella immediately captures attention with its minimalistic urban design. Its elegant curves, bathed in "Porsche Grey Black," harmonize seamlessly with the black Sarolea Performance Tech Frame, commanding a unique presence on the streets. And while it comes in CQD White as standard, enthusiasts will appreciate the option to personalize the bike's body with a variety of colors and designs. The meticulous details continue with distinct Trevor badges adorning the front and the brand's signature at the tail. These are subtle accents but I think it just elevates its overall aesthetic.

Looking at the Trevor DTRe Stella, it's immediately apparent that no compromises were made when selecting high-end performance parts. The motorcycle proudly rides on 19” Haan wheels, complemented by Dunlop tires. For those seeking an even better road grip, there's an option to upgrade to the Mitas H-18 highway tires. But what really caught our eye was the beautiful gold-colored front suspension from Öhlins Racing. This isn't just about aesthetics, it's a testament to the brand's commitment to delivering top-notch quality. Nestled just above, and perfectly framed by the suspension, is a striking LED headlight. Its brilliance isn't limited to its appearance, it shines bright, ensuring maximum visibility during those adventurous night rides.

Moving a tad rearwards, just behind the headlight, we encounter the digital dashboard. Illuminated to perfection, it conveniently displays crucial details like speed, range, and driving modes. However, while its clarity isn't in question, its position might be. I couldn't help but think that if this digital dashboard was placed on the handlebar, it would provide a more intuitive reading experience, especially while in motion. Speaking of the handlebar, Trevor's choice of the Domino HSA Handlebar stands out. Not just an accessory, this component is the bike's command center, influencing every nuance of its handling.

Performance & Handling

While the aesthetics of the Trevor DTRe Stella are undoubtedly captivating, the real question is: does its ride match its radiant facade? Beneath the surface, the bike boasts a 2.7 kWh Battery Pack and an Air-cooled Brushless DC3 Motor, delivering a substantial 317 Nm of torque, perfect for weaving through city traffic. With a peak speed of 90 km/h, it's adept for both city streets and the occasional open-road adventures. Its acceleration and braking are refined, and the throttle exudes a consistent, linear feel, ensuring no abrupt surprises. However, given it's an EV, I did find myself yearning for a touch of more sportiness in its performance. Don't misunderstand, the ride is seamless, but there's a hint of power that seems absent. Range, a crucial factor for any electric vehicle, is one area where the Trevor DTRe Stella doesn’t disappoint. A single charge can take you up to 100 km (City), more than sufficient for daily city rides. And with a 3kW charger, it charges from empty to full in just 70 minutes.

On the Trevor DTRe Stella, riders enjoy an upright posture, making long journeys and maneuvering comfortably. Although the seat feels somewhat firm, the adjustable suspension compensates, skillfully absorbing road imperfections like potholes and speed bumps. The Stella navigates these with confidence. However, leaning into corners feels different from my own motorcycle experience. The body tends to tilt more than expected, which can feel a bit unsettling during turns. I believe this is an area they could refine to ensure both the seat and the bike's body feel more stable.

The Stella Wrapped Up

The Trevor DTRe Stella confidently stakes its claim in the electric motorcycle arena. Through a harmonious blend of cutting-edge design and top-tier performance components, it targets the urban rider, one who seeks not just sustainability, but also a distinct sense of style in their ride. Yet, the allure of the Stella comes with a notable high price tag with a starting point of €14.495. When benchmarked against other motorcycles in the 125cc class, it stands out as a premium choice, but also the priciest in this category. This positioning underscores its premium offering but might also give potential buyers a reason to pause and weigh its unique features against the cost.
